Los Angeles punk rock icons THE GEARS are releasing a long awaited documentary on the history of these musicians navigating through the Los Angeles underground. Starting from the late 70’s at the infamous The Masque Club downtown to the days of now at Cafe Nela.
The Gears were to Los Angeles what the Ramones were to NY. Surf punk tunes with incredibly catchy hooks. Great songwriting with the punch of Mike Tyson in his prime. They shared the stage with iconic greats like X, The Blasters, The Germs, Agent Orange, and countless others. Axxel G. Reese and Kidd Spike still perform with new members Mike Manifold and Sean Shift, and just released a new album called “When Things Get Ugly”.
A special shout out goes to the recent passing of original drummer Dave Drive. A drummer with insane talent and influence on the many that have followed him. He will be sorely missed and it’s great to know that the legend of The Gears will forever continue.
March 26th at the Vista Theater in Silverlake (at the Sunset and Hollywood junction) will be the premiere of the Documentary. Hope to see you there!
